People coming and going, moving up and moving down around … so many changes in such a short time: new spaces, new faces, new labs and a new website that contains all of this and more …
One new project after another: each new initiative dreamt up, thought out and created. If we think that a new idea can bring well-being and interest for children and their families then we do our best to make it happen. The common denominator is our passion: we strongly believe that children understand when things are done with love and our hope is that they will, in turn, learn to do things with the same passion and love.
There is a famous quote by J.W.Von Goethe that I like very much and it summarises the concept in just a few words (he a poet, a genius of course):
“Whatever you can do, or DREAM you can, begin it. BOLDNESS has GENIUS, POWER and MAGIC in it.”

NEW SPACES
MyChild’ pre-school’s relocation
The day has arrived! On Monday, November 27th the new section of our ‘MyChild’ pre-school was opened. The previous weekend, in preparation for the opening, our teachers set up the spaces, positioned material and made the work and activity areas welcoming and functional. On Monday, the children, accompanied by their parents, brought the project to life. We could see their appreciation of the new classroom and the things it offers, relishing the change with calm and joy.
The children moved around the different areas with ease, exploring the various activities and happily set to work in small groups.
MyBaby’ nursery school’s expansion
So, what is to become of the beautiful classroom, now that the children of ‘MyChild’ preschool have moved to their new section? We are increasing the intake for the nursery school! There are many families waiting for the chance to enrol their children in the ‘MyBaby’ nursery school . In order to meet these demands, we asked the Canton authorities about the possibility of increasing the number of children as a result of the extension of the classrooms. Our request was granted to expand from 33 to 50 places. We are now working as quickly as possible to have everything in place for the end of January.

In order to unify all our different facilities, ‘My Baby’, ‘My Child’, ‘My Summer Camp’, ‘My Labs’ and ‘My Weeks’, the ‘Medacta for Life Foundation’ has decided to create a new identify, a unique entity capable of incorporating them all. Hence, the new name – ‘MySchool’.
The new website – ‘www.myschoolticino.ch‘ – appeared online on Thursday, December 14th, 2017 and replaces/completes the previous websites – ‘www.mybaby.ch’ and ‘www.simychild.ch’.

MY LABS
MyTea Time
For the English labs, our teachers (Suzy and Ulrike) plan meetings that include meaningful activities: starting with a nice cup of English tea followed by yoga, songs and stories, new vocabulary and sounds and art and craft activities.
MyKid’s Drama Club
The theatre lab is centred on the story of the book “Isotta, l’aquilotta intraprendente”. This fairytale lends itself to creative play through fun and colourful situations that contain educational messages that encourage the children to discover, listen and exercise.
MyCloslieu
Painting in the Closlieu, following the teaching of Arno Stern. Chiara offers painting according to the Stern method, it is the “most powerful tool” of the atelier. She does not teach. She does not make requests or suggestions. She does not judge the work that is done, but helps those who are painting by providing what it is needed, when it is needed. Painting in the Closlieu is fun: it happens without judgment, there is no competition. You do not paint for an objective, to achieve a result or to affirm a skill or talent: you paint soley for the pleasure of doing so.
Infant massage
The ‘Infant Massage’ courses are held by Sabrina who graduated from AIMI and IAIM in order to teach parents how to massage their children in a way that is functional for their growth. Infant Massage’ is a parent-child session. The course helps to promote good communication and is held in a cheerful, quiet space where participants can meet, support each other and exchange concerns and advice. It teaches how some techniques can help address any troubles that are affecting the infant.
Experience Vouchers
We offer ‘Experience Vouchers’ for you to give as a gift to your own child or someone close to you ( Nephew, Cousin, Friend, or for a special occasion). You can purchase a one-month voucher, available until June 2018, for participation in one of the ‘MySchool’ labs. There will also be a free trial lesson. The attendance at these labs is once a week and the subscription is monthly.
Night of the tale ’17
“La notte del Racconto” this year was held on November 10th throughout Switzerland. The theme this year was: “COURAGE”! Also at ‘MyChild’ preschool, the teachers animated the evening by reading and acting out three different stories. Then the big event: the older children, who will start primary school next year, spent the night at the school with their teachers. Snacks, games, a bed time story … and, eventually, time to go to sleep! On Saturday morning, after a delicious breakfast all together, the children went home with their parents.
Christmas Market 2017
Parents worked hard, creating handmade items for the Christmas Market. During the afternoon, dedicated to exchanging Christmas wishes, the market stalls were set up selling lots of handmade items.
The children sang English and Italian Christmas songs, accompanied by Viviana on the guitar, Santa Claus came to visit and the new Chef of ‘MySchool’ delighted us with tasty snacks. All of the money raised (over 2,000CHF) will be donated to ATFA, Ticino Association of Foster Families, whose initiatives have been supported by the ‘Medacta for Life Foundation’ for some years.
