On Saturday 29 August, at the Lido di Lugano, over 280 people took to the water for the third edition of Bracciate Aperte: a day of sport, inclusion and solidarity that transformed the Olympic-sized swimming pool into a true community space.
Twenty-five teams lined up at the starting blocks: athletes of all ages and genders, each bringing their own spirit of participation and swimming skills, gave their all in an exciting and energetic relay race.
This year, the Medacta for Life Foundation was among the supporters of Bracciate Aperte, offering its staff and those of Medacta International SA the opportunity to take part directly in the event. Four staff members chose to take part, bringing the spirit of My Volunteering into the water and to the poolside, and contributing first-hand to a day in which sport became a tangible tool for inclusion, connection and solidarity.
The funds raised during the event, as stipulated by the organising body, will support the Don Guanella Foundation’s “Parco Giochi del Sole 2.0” project in Riva San Vitale, an inclusive sports and leisure area dedicated to local residents and their families.
For the Medacta for Life Foundation, the value of initiatives such as this lies precisely in the opportunity to be there, to take part and to play our part: we believe that inclusion is not just a message but a value that is built together, one step – or one arm stroke – at a time.
